Parts of Abesan Estate, along Ipaja Ayobo road, in Lagos, went up in flames early Monday morning, upping the list of what seems to have become a new phenomenon in Nigeria, starting four successive incidents in Onitsha, Anambra State recently, and three in Lagos in a space day, last week.

The fire which was said to have affected mostly residents of Estate Bus Stop, was said to have resulted from another petrol tanker explosion, even though some linked it to the activities of oil vandals, operating in the area, which houses some of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), pipelines in Lagos.

The latest inferno is coming just few days after two major outbreaks, one razing down a shopping complex at Balogun Market in the Lagos Island, last Wednesday, November 5, and another, at Dosunmu Street, all in Lagos Island.

A Twitter user, @Abiola_Usman lamenting the situation, said his father’s car got burnt as a result of the fire incident.

Details later…
