Reminiscent of the old era when egg was a rare precious delicacy, a young woman has lost her life for daring to cook some for breakfast without her mother’s permission.

The incident, which happened in Zimbabwe, has now landed the woman, Mercy Marigo, in trouble with the law, as she was reportedly promptly arrested by the police for the act and is now awaiting trial..

According to Zimnews, Mercy Marigo from Gokwe hit her daughter, Tapuwanashe, with a burning log of wood who then lost consciousness.

Neighbours who witnessed the incident said Marigo got angry at her daughter because she cooked two eggs for breakfast without her consent and hit the head of Tapuwanashe with a burning wood after which she slumped.

Realising the gravity of the action, she rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.

Gladys Marigo, sister to the woman, said neighbours told her of how she got infuriated when she learnt that the deceased had prepared the two eggs which she had reserved to prepare for the evening meal for breakfast instead and in anger, beat her with a burning log.
