Nigerians have dared Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, to make good his promise to tear his Green Card should Mr. Donald J. Trump be elected President of the United States of America.

Professor Wole Soyinka, who is a scholar-in-residence at New York University’s Institute of African American Affairs, penultimate week, said: “If in the unlikely event he (Trump) does win, the first thing he’ll do is to say all green-card holders must reapply to come back into the US. Well, I’m not waiting for that.”

“The moment they announce his victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up,” he said.

Mr. Trump a, Washington outsider, representing the Republican Party was yesterday elected 45th President of the United States of America, having polled 289 electoral votes. He trounced his closest rival, Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party, who polled 218 electoral votes, 52 votes shy of the 270 electoral votes required.
