Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, is full of praises for former President, Goodluck Jonathan, who turned 63 years old on Friday, describing him as an epitome of humility and an icon of democracy who would be long remembered for selflessness and love for country over personal interests.

Fintiri in a goodwill message to the former President on his 63rd birthday, said Jonathan would be remembered for his exemplary character and sacrifice for sustainable democracy in Nigeria, recalling his famous declaration: My ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian, which he added made him a rare son of Africa.

The message contained in a statement by his spokesman, Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor, wrote: “Your commitment to Nigerian nationhood remains outstanding and commendable. Today, Africa celebrates your sacrifice for nation and democracy. Your commitment to peace has seen you working as ECOWAS peace envoy to Mali.

“You are a person of great integrity and deep dignity and extraordinary courage. Your courage has helped in no small measure in deepening democracy on the continent.”

Commending Jonathan’s God fearing posture amid sit tight leaders in and around Aftica, he added: “I’m glad to add my comments to the many who wish you happy birthday. Thank you for setting examples of working in good faith in finding common ground.

I pray for long life, good health and strength for you to do more for the continent. Your love for Nigeria and commitment to her unity, stability and good governance is worthy of emulation by all. Nigeria owes you a debt that her people cannot pay. Happy birthday the quintessential African politician.”
