Disregard what I said before, Ize-Iyamu is the messiah in Edo – Oshiomhole

Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has continued to eat his words against Osagie Ize-Iyamu, saying every word he said against him four years ago when he (Oshiomhole) was the governor and Ize-Iyamu the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), should be jettisoned as untrue.

Oshiomhole, two-term governor of the state, who had described Ize-Iyamu, now the APC candidate, for the same governorship election, scheduled for September 19, as a cultist, corrupt and untrustworthy with money, had dismissed the depiction as mere politics meant to deny him the office then, because the two of them belonged to different political parties.

Reiterating his position, on Tuesday, he told a mammoth crowd of youths under the aegis of the Edo Youth Solidarity Movement who have risen in solidarity with the APC candidate that it was regrettable that instead of flaunting its achievement, the PDP and its candidate, Godwin Obaseki, had continued to latch on to the old statement.

Hear him: “They cannot display their achievements because they don’t have any. They have decided to focus on Oshiomhole although he is not in the ballot.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu is a good man with genuine plans to move Edo State forward. He has the support of all and is on his way to repeating the 2012 feat of winning in all the 18 local governments as I did when he was my campaign director general.”

The youth led by John Izegaegbe, Edo South and Godwin Aigbokhaode, Edo North, assured Pastor Ize-Iyamu of their solidarity and inputs to ensure that he emerged victorious in the election during the meeting where his running mate, Mallam Gani Audu and other leaders of the party, were also on hand.

“We guarantee you of the votes of thousands of their members across the three senatorial districts. We have begun mobilisation in the 18 local governments to ensure APC wins at the polls on September 19,” Izegaegbe, told Ize-Iyamu, adding that they were eager to see him implement his SIMPLE agenda.

On his part, the APC governorship candidate, promised not to fail, saying: “Instead of empowering our youths and exploring opportunities to positively engage them, the governor continues to denigrate and insult them as ‘agberos’.

“Many of you here are well-educated, qualified and competent to handle complex tasks and projects. Instead of patronising you, the governor insults you and chooses to do his business elsewhere.

“My own government will be different. We have plans to create jobs for our youths. We will empower and patronise them.

“We don’t think you are good for election period only. If you elect me, you will have a friend in the Government House; a governor who is accessible, lives among you and is accountable to you.”
