BREAKING: Finally, domestic flights resume in Nigeria

Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has announced the commencement of commercial flights, hitherto put at bay in the thick of COVID-19 outbreak, would resume operations on Wednesday, July 8.

But the opportunity would be extended to passengers travelling to and from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, for the time being.

The .Minister who announced this a day after the Federal Government opened interstate travels and schools, also shut down, on his confirmed Twitter handle on Wednesday night, said date for commencement of international flights would be announced in due course.

Giving further details about the phased opening of the airports, the Minister, said Kano, Port Harcourt, Owerri and Maiduguri airports would resume operations on July 11 while other airports would start operations on July 15.

The tweet read: "I am glad to announce that Abuja & Lagos airports will resume domestic operations on the 8th of July, 2020. Kano, Port Harcourt, Owerri & Maiduguri to resume on the 11th. Other airports on the 15th. Date for international to be announced in due course. Bear with us, please."
