Resumption of interstate movements, opening up of local and international flights and resumption of academic activities across board, are some of the issues Nigerians are eagerly awaiting President Muhammadu Buhari to decide on, as he unfolds the next phase of eased lockdown in the country on Tuesday.

This was after he got briefing from the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, led by its Chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on the same day.

Apart from the SGF, other members of the committee that briefed the President, included Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire; the Coordinator of the PTF on COVID-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu; and the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu.

Bashir Ahmad, presidential spokesman, confirmed that Buhari would update Nigerians on the next step by Tuesday, saying through his Twitter handle: “Today is the last day of Nigeria’s phase II of the eased lockdown, members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefed and submitted their recommendations to the President for approval, the next lines of action will be announced tomorrow, SGF Boss Mustapha discloses.”

The meeting with the taskforce, was meant to brief Buhari on the ongoing efforts to curtail the spread of COVID-19 and the next steps to be taken.
