Donald Trump, the United States President, on Friday ordered the reopening of religious centres across the country, on the ground that they are a part of essential services in the fight against the COVID-19.

The POTUS, told reporters at the usual White House press briefing, on Friday that governors, some of whom have been kicking against the idea, should better take a cue or he would be forced to use his executive powers to drive through the directives

“The governors need to do the right thing and allow these very important essential places of faith to open right now, for this weekend. If they don’t do it, I will override the governors. In America, we need more prayer, not less,” he said.

Trump said that the decision was critical because “the people are demanding to go to churches, synagogues and go to their mosques; many millions of Americans embrace worship as an essential part of life.”

He added that the ministers, pastors, rabbis, imams, faith leaders would make sure that their congregations are safe as they gather and pray.

“I know them well, they love their Congregations, they love their people and they don’t want anything bad to happen to them or to anybody else,” he added.
