Death has claimed one Paul Okwudili, said to have died after making out with a woman, in one of the rooms at Plus View Hotel Onitsha, Anambra State at the weekend, opening a new trend of fatalities caused by the use of sex enhancement drugs.

In recent times, advertisements on drugs for the enlargement of penis and prolonged sexual activities, have been directed at men, using different media platforms, by manufacturers and marketers of the various drugs.

The death of Okwudili, 40, is coming barely a fortnight after a Delta State-born lawyer, allegedly died after sleeping with a prostitute in a Lagos hotel, which the police attributed to the sex-enhancement drugs he must have taken before the act.

This came through a video clip, showing one Precious, a 17-year-old girl, who admitted combining her sale of alcoholic beverage with prostitution, stating during interrogation that that the deceased had sex with her in the wee-hours of the day, but could not respond to her demand for financial settlement of their activities, having gone limp.

In the recent development, the Anambra State Police Command, in a statement by its spokesman, Haruna Mohammed, a Superintendent of Police, claimed the manager of the hotel reported at Central Police Station, Onitsha that the deceased, a resident of Ogboliolosi, off Awka Road, Inland Town, Onitsha, allegedly took a lady to the hotel and lodged.

Minutes later, the lady came out shouting for help and the hotel management went to the room and discovered the man gasping for air and promptly rushed him to St Charles Boromeo hospital Onitsha for medical attention where he was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical Doctor on duty.

“The hotel was visited by police detectives attached to CPS Onitsha and photographs of the victim were obtained. No marks of violence were seen on the deceased body but some drugs believed to be for sex enhancement, were seen in the room,” the statement, sai.

Haruna, who said the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy, added that the lady had since been arrested for questioning.
