Disaster averted, as security operatives prevent 'area boys' from fallen petrol tanker in Lagos

Security operatives have thrown a cordon around part of the precincts of Ozumba Mbadiwe Street in Victoria Island to prevent petrol scavengers from causing a major disaster while scooping fuel from another fallen tanker in the area.

Area boys were said to have stormed the area intent on scooping fuel from a the tanker, which was said to have fallen few metres away from Cactus in the highbrow area of the Lagos Island, a practice, which had on many occasions, led to fire outbreaks that caused human calamity.

The measure to cordon off part of the area, has resulted into a serious traffic snarl, according to eyewitness, who report, authorities had formed traffic on two lanes on the Quilox side of the road, while advising motorists and residents to take alternate route to enter Victoria Island in order to avoid Ozumba.
