Ganduje
For Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, it was another victory song on Friday as the Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna affirmed his election, toeing the line of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which earlier dismissed the judicial challenge of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Abba Kabiru Yusuf, candidate of the PDP in the March 8 governorship election, which became controversial after allegations of violence and fraud, had vehemently opposed the outcome after Ganduje, was declared the winner.
But the five-man panel of Appeal Court Judges led by Justice Tijjani Abubakar unanimously ruled that, his appeal after being refused by the lower tribunal lacks merit and therefore, threw it away.
Yusuf, however appears unrelenting, as his lawyer, Bashir Yusuf Muhammad indicated that an appeal to the Supreme Court, was already in the offing, arguing that the reasons for the decisions arrived in the judgement had not been given.
He added, “We will get the full judgement to know the basis of the judgement before proceeding to the Supreme Court.”
