Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has been preaching environmental best behaviours in the state, has entered the bad book of the same people he has been preaching to by breaking one of the rules he had campaigned against.

The governor’s convoy was caught on camera allegedly driving against the traffic in a clip which is already trending on the social media, even though details were quite hazy as to the date and location of the incident.

The less than one minute clip did not also explain whether the governor, who has made a sing-song on bringing sanity to Lagos roads and keeping the environment clean in line with the mega city vision, was inside the convoy.

But a lady, apparently the maker of the video, was overheard complaining bitterly and loudly against the governor and his alleged (mis)conduct while assailing him for having performed below standards at the same time.

She was heard saying: “(This is) Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu taking one way…against traffic, because he could not fix the road. Can you just imagine! Can you imagine! He couldn’t even spend 30minutes inside the traffic. And this is what we go through everyday, everyday. That man is yet to do nothing in Lagos.”

Sanwo-Olu, had however, explained when he appeared on The Platform on October 1, that he would embark on serious road rehablitation immediately after the rains, saying he was not happy with the situation.

His words: “Vehicular traffic in Lagos is about 240 cars or thereabout per kilometer. The national average is about 11 cars per kilometer. We are fully aware that there is a problem now in the short term and we are solving it.

"Once we finish the rainy season, extensive road rehabilitation will start to fix the roads as it were. Not that we will fix all the 6,000 roads in Lagos in one day, because everybody takes a snapchat or picture and sends to me. We are going to get there over time, but it won’t be everything at once.”
