Kiki Mordy

For days, months and even years, the sex-for-grade, sex-for-admission or sexual harassment documentary by the BBC will continue to dominate the public space or at least, continue to be a reference point.

So would the name, Kiki Mordy, the young lady at the centre of it all, who unknown to many people is actually a 28-year-old journalist.

Leading the investigation for BBC Africa Eye to bust the sex racketeering in the African universities, actually came out of Mordy’s own experience as a versatile journalist, who in 2016, won the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Award for Outstanding Radio Program Presenter.

Besides working for BBC, Kiki, a victim of sexual harassment, which saw her abandoning university education, is also a woman advocate who holds a show on WFM, a women-focused radio station in Nigeria.

The brilliant young lady was studying medicine in one of the prestigious universities in Nigeria. But Kiki Mordy revealed she dropped out due to pestering and sexual harassment from some of the tutors.

Currently, Kiki Mody lives in London but frequently visits Nigeria where she was born and raised.

Certainly, Professor Ransford Gyampo, and Dr. Paul Kwame Butakor, both of University of Ghana and the duo of Samuel Oladipo and Dr Boniface Igbeneghu, of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) will not have her to thank for their current ordeal.
