For the first time in its history, the chips falling off the clashes in the Big Brother Naija reality television show, may be tested in court, even as the popular show, which has engaged a groundswell of Nigerians to their televisions, continues to generate controversy.

The new turn of events is coming from action of one of the housemates, Khafi Kareem, a staff of the London Metropolitan Police, said to be on the verge of losing a N13million yearly paid job, for participating in the show without permission from her employers.

The bone of contention now, is not that the 29-year-old went to participate into the show, with a mouth-watering prize tag of N60million and other equally tempting perks, without the approval of her bosses, but that she has gone ahead to be having regular sex romps in the full glare of the viewing public, a situation her employers, find quite embarrassing.

But the anger of the policewoman, is not on the controversy, but against the Sun of UK, which reported the incident, given the position of her team, which threatened on Tuesday to go to court on the matter.

The team managing the policewoman’s social media accounts, acupofkhafi is accusing the newspaper of publishing the on Monday without Khafi’s side of the story.

A spokesman of the MET Police was, quoted as saying the Directorate of Professional Standards has opened investigation on the 29-year-old’s ‘unprofessional conducts’.

Khafi, a UK police constable, was told not to partake in the show but she left anyway, drawing ire from the authorities.

Demanding an apology and retraction of the report, Khafi’s Instagram handlers, though silent on the escapades of the policewoman, described the newspaper report as sensational and defamatory.

The group, said in a statement: “This brazenly sensational and defamatory outburst by The Sun UK is written in poor taste without considering the ethics of journalism which seeks balance and objectivity.

“At NO time did The Sun UK send a mail of inquiry to Khafi’s official email which is blasted across her social media platforms under active management to confirm or refute the claims in the publication.

“Khafi’s side of the story is deliberately and conveniently omitted to sell a pre-conceived narrative while responses from ‘outraged colleagues’ and ‘other papers’ riddle the publication.

“This comes from a repressive culture of shaming and characterizing women for their sexual decisions and life choices.

“We find The Sun UK’s publication repulsive and damaging to the image and livelihood of our client.

“Khafi is a proud black female police officer who prides herself in her work and has dedicated her youthful years protecting and serving with her many skills which include the ability to speak at least five international languages.”
