The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Wednesday, pooh-poohed the comments of the African Action Congress (AAC), governorship candidate in Rivers State, Biokpomabo Awara, for claiming that the state Governor, Nyesom Wike offered him N3 billion to dump his party.

Awara had told reporters, in Abuja, on Tuesday that the governor offering him N3bn through his aide, to dump his ambition to challenge him in the governorship election of the state, but he turned down the offer because of his high ideals.

He also denied being goaded by Wike’s predecessor and the current Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, to contest the election on the contract that the former governor would run the government, saying the AAC’s collaboration with the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the Minister in the state, was free of any personal entanglements, except the agreement to collectively save the state from the hands on a non-performing government.

However, conveying the position of the Wike camp on the allegation, the Director of Information and Communications of the Rivers State PDP Campaign Council, Emma Okah, wondered where the governor would get such a humongous amount to bribe someone without electoral value like Awara.

Okah told Channels TV: “The allegation is childish and ridiculous. Does he know the weight of N3 Billion?

“Where will the governor get such money to give anybody as a bribe to win an election that he has already won?

“What did Awara do or will do that will make the governor offer him such money?”
