REVEALED: Mother loses five children in Lagos school building collapse

A woman was said to have lost five children in the collapsed school building in Lagos, on Wednesday morning, where rescue workers are still battling to free some of the victims still trapped in the rubbles at the scene of the incident.

The school situated at Itafaji Street, near Adeniji Adele was said to have caved in around 10:20am on Wednesday.

The cause of the sad incident which occurred at 10:00 am, according to an eye witness, could not be ascertained, but informed that said no fewer than 10 pupils had been evacuated from the rubbles.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr Kehinde Adebayo, has confirmed the building collapse, saying the emergency officials were already on the ground.

The revelation is coming from a Twitter user, @Dr.Olufumilayo, under the umbrella of OurFavourOnlineDoctor, while urging Nigerians not to allow the tragedy to be buried after the initial emotional outbursts of pity.

She wrote: Collapsed building in Lagos island. One woman has lost 5 children to it. I hope this will not just end in the usual Nigerian “awww” “eyah” and a lot of silly.

We have to start investigating and jailing those responsible for avoidable deaths like this.

Sources said about 100 pupils were inside the school building when it collapsed. The cause of the collapse is still unknown. Efforts are still ongoing to rescue as many students alive as possible.
