Buhari

On the heels of what is turning out to be a fad, where President Muhammadu Buhari’s real personality was used as a major issue of comedy by an American, Jimmy Kimmel, the Presidency came out on Thursday in stiff defence of the President.

Kimmel, had taken up the issue of Buhari’s alleged death and supposed replacement with a “cloned Jubril from Sudan,” in a video, which has gone viral across the world, with his audience laughing hilariously, as he poked more fun at the President.

The story of a Buhari double sitting in the Presidential Villa, Abuja after the alleged death of the true Buhari, last year, though had been in public domain for sometime now, was accentuated with the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, made a broadcast on the matter, escalating the tale that the President was actually Jubril Aminu Al-Sudani.

Hinging on the riposte on the matter by the President himself, who said in far away Poland, that he was the real Buhari, the American in his late-night show aired on ABC news in the US, ended his joke with “that’s what a clone would say,”

Reacting on the issue, Abike Dabiri, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, while dismissing the video as a joke, wrote on her Twitter page: “Cracking up on Jimmy Kimmel Live joke on the issue of Buhari cloning. Jimmy is a comedian, his source of livelihood. The joke is a no to the stupidly of even believing in the cloning narrative at all, not on PMB. Won’t waste energy on this. That’s all.”
