Buhari and Amosun

All hopes may not have been lost for Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun if the interpretation being given to his visit to the Villa, where he is currently meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari represents the true picture of things.

The interpretation already flying around, following the meeting, which is still going on, is that there would be a turnaround in the fortunes of Amosun, now that the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Adams Oshiohmole is out of the country and may not be coming back soon.

Oshiohmole, who, according to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has fled the country to escape the onslaughts of the Department of State Security (DSS), which was said to have quizzed him for a record nine hours on Wednesday, on matters bordering on monumental corruption.

Before the development, the former Governor of Edo State, had been engaged in a running battle with some governors, notably, Amosun, is Imo counterpart, Rochas Okorocha, as well as those of Ondo, Rotimi Akeredolu and Zamfara, Abdulaziz Yari over the outcome of last October’s APC primaries.

If it is true that the APC boss is actually on the run, it may well clear the way for the Ogun State Governor, and others who blame Oshiohmole for being shortchanged during the exercise to turn the tide in their favour.
