The penchant for money-making rituals among youths in Nigeria, has claimed another victim, Mrs. Gift Samual, whose 18-year-old son, went ahead to have sex with her corpse, after summarily strangulating her.

Akpobome Samuel, an indigene of Oghara in Delta State, who made the chilling confession, at the Edo State Police Command Headquarters in Benin, said the incident took place in their residence at Ologbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

It was on the same day another 20-year-old boy, Odion Jimoh, another culprit also spilled his own eerie account of how he murdered and hacked off the head of another victim, Asuelimhen Atogwe, at Ayogwiri, in Edo north.

The two suspected murderers, were among the 84 multiple crime suspects paraded by the command for offences ranging from cultism, kidnapping, rape, armed robbery and burglary, on Wednesday.

Narrating how went after his mother, after one native doctor allegedly told him that he would come into instant wealth, after killing and sleeping with her corps, the young man, who said he worked at a pure water factory, explained that the late mother never offended him.

Hear his story: “I wanted to use my mother for ritual. I am 18 years old. My father is dead. It was one man called One Love that told me to use my mother for money ritual. He promised to give me N50,000 if I killed my mother and sleep with her. He said I should cut my mother’s ear and fingers and bring them to him. I wanted to cut the ears and fingers before the people came in.

I slept with my mother only once. I pressed my mother’s neck to kill her while she was sleeping. The One Love sells drugs. He put something inside the drink he gave and he told me to go and kill my mother.
“The day I went to his house with policemen, the man has ran away. I hail from Oghara. I work in a pure water factory. I now feel very bad because I was beaten badly by people. I did what the ritualist told me.”
“I did not know that my grandmother was sitting outside. She opened the door and sighted me with the corpse inside the room and raised the alarm that drew the attention of the public. My mother did not offend me. I killed her because of the money.”

In what the police suspected was acting under the influence of illicit substance, Jimoh, narrated how he was seized by some forces to commit his own atrocious act, saying: “Honestly, the man did not do anything to me. I don’t know what came over me,” he said.

Police, however said the late Atogwe, a carpenter, who was contracted to work at a house where he met the suspect weeding, must have crossed the red line by asking the suspect why he was not at the community age-group festival.

Apparently decked by the effect of the substance suspected to be marijuana, Jimoh, who was said to have felt slighted and humiliated by such audacity, reportedly picked up a wooden object with which he hit on the neck of the victim, which instantly demobilised him, to a point that he presented no resistance as he was being beheaded by the assailant with a cutlass.

Jimoh, was reportedly arrested at an uncompleted building, after the man who contracted the victim raised the alarm when he discovered the lifeless body of the man and his head beside him.
