The campaign to vote out President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, has got a futher boost, with the Supreme Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) signed in to the project on Saturday.

Before now, the IPOB boss, who disappeared from the public, after an encounter with the Nigerian Military, who swooped on his Afaraukwu country home in Umuahia, Abia State in November, 2017, had hinged his efforts on getting a separate country for Biafra, insisting at various times that there would not be elections in areas carved out as the Biafran territory.

But in what appears to be a shift from his position of no referendum, no election mantra, which had dominated his agitation, Kanu is said to have agreed to join forces to remove Buhari from power.

Kanu, who has been making calls to his friends and allies since a surprise video showed him in public again at a location, said to be the Wailing Wall, in Jerusalem, according to former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has agreed to be part of the move to remove the President.

Fani-Kayode using his verified Twitter handle, @realFFK, posted on Saturday, that he was delighted at the fact that Kanu was not only still alive and well, but that they had agreed to work together to vote out the current administration.

He said, “I just received a call from my brother Nnamdi Kanu. I am delighted that he is alive and well. I commend his strength and courage even as I marvel at the loyalty, resilience, and commitment of his lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor and IPOB. We have agreed to work together to VOTE Buhari out.”

However, another ally of the IPOB leader, Elliot Ukoh, who claimed to have also received a call from him, said, in his own statement that Kanu, had indeed vowed to remain apolitical and without interest in neither the politics in Nigeria, nor any political party.

Ukoh’s statement, read: “Mazi Nnamdi Kanu called me this morning and briefed me on goings on, including his travails of the past 13 months. He told me he called a few other persons as well.
“He thanked all and assured of his total commitment to the struggle for the freedom of his people. He said he has recovered fully and is now in good health. He promised that, as already known by all and sundry, that he and his group remain completely apolitical.

“He maintains that they have no interest whatsoever in partisan politics and pleads with politicians trading with his name and that of his organisation, to back off.
He pointedly told me that they have no business whatsoever with both the APC  and the PDP. He insists he remains relentlessly apolitical and warns those hoping to hustle with his name to back down now.
He will officially thank all tomorrow evening by 6 pm he says.”
