Daura with Osinbajo

There seems no let in the current ordeals of former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura,  currently on house arrest in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with the latest angle being that his international passport, has just been confiscated.

The travel documents, of the man, believed only a few days ago to be one of the most powerful men in the government of President Muhammadu Buhari and to a large extent, Nigeria, was reportedly seized by security officials investigating sundry allegations of malfeasances against him, particularly his role in the siege by the DSS at National Assembly chambers on Tuesday.

Daura was removed on the orders of the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, over the siege of the legislative chambers by armed DSS operatives on Tuesday, a security action which sparked nationwide outcry.

While some Police sources said that Daura began his house arrest on Wednesday evening, others said he regained his freedom from security operatives on Thursday.

Reliable sources also confirmed that Daura’s passport has been seized by the intelligence officers.

The Police authorities, which are investigating Daura, have yet to provide any information officially on the matter.

Details later…
