Troubled: Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki at the commencement of the Senate’s plenary on Wednesday raised alarm of an alleged plot by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris to implicate him in criminal activities through some alleged cultists arrested in Kwara State.

The Senate President told his colleagues that he was informed by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State that the IGP had asked for the transfer of some cult members arrested in Ilorin and who were due for arraignment today to Abuja‎ for this purpose.

He added that the the suspected cultists were ordered to be transferred to Abuja on the order of the Inspector General of Police.

The Senate President said he was informed that the suspected cultists who are already in Abuja will be tutored to implicate him.

The Senate is still discussing appropriate response to the information as at the time of writing this story.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing Delta Central, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, on Wednesday morning resumed at the senate chamber.

After signing the attendance register, he proceeded to the upper legislative chambers where the lawmakers were in a closed-door session which began shortly after the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, said the opening prayers.

Omo-Agege, who was suspended for 90 legislative days over a comment allegedly tarnishing the image of the Senate, failed to show up for plenary on Tuesday.

He was, however, summoned alongside Senator Ali Ndume to explain their various roles in the event of the snatching of the senate mace.

The Senate leadership had on Monday night resolved to comply with the judgement of the Federal High Court on the suspension of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
