House of Reps

A rash of actions came from the House of Representatives, on Wednesday, including a decision to summon President Muhammadu Buhari and to completely shutdown of the lower house, in solidarity with the people of Benue State, who are practically under a siege from killer herdsmen.

For starters, the House will not sit for three days and on resumption, would be grilling the President on his efforts to stop the wanton carnage that has escalated, since the beginning of 2018, with the New Year day mass murder.

This came on the same day the members, also passed a vote of no confidence on all the service chiefs, calling for their immediate replacement, based on a motion sponsored by Mark Gbillah, on the recent attack on St Ignatius Quasi Parish, Ukpor, Mbalom in Gwer West Local Government Council of Benue.

The killing of the priests, Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha, both reverend fathers, came just four days after a similar attack on Naka Community of Benue State, despite the heavy presence of security agencies in the state.
