Okezie
Okezie Ikpeazu has survived a legal action by a senior lawyer, Friday Nwosu, seeking to disqualify him as governor of Abia state.
The Supreme Court in a verdict dismissed the suit by Nwosu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia state, and upheld the ruling of the Court of Appeal, which dismissed the appeal challenging Ikpeazu's qualification.
The lawyer was challenging Ikpeazu's election on the grounds that the governor allegedly made false information in his form to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Nwosu contested the 2014 PDP governorship primary in the state with Ikpeazu and others. He alleged that Ikpeazu submitted false information and tax documents to his party and asked the court to disqualify the governor.
He prayed the court to declare him the lawful PDP candidate in the 2015 governorship election.
