Shekau

Abubakar Shekau, the dreaded, tough-talking and arrogant leader of Boko Haram terrorists group, is currently on the run from the heat of intense bombardment of his safe haven in the Sambisa Forest.

According to the Nigerian Army, Shekau, who appeared in a recent video, without much of his gusto, saying he had resigned to fate, due to depleted fighting power of his men, now dresses as a woman in an effort to escape from the Theatre of Operation.

Spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, in a statement on Tuesday, said a dispirited Shekau, was currently on the run, having been pummelled to the extent that he could no longer bear the heat, abandoning his followers in the process.

He said: “He is running for his dear life. He is desperately trying to escape the theatre, disguised as a woman and dressed in Hijab.

“We reliably gathered that to avoid detection, Abubakar Shekau alternates between blue and black coloured hijabs. He was last seen in a black hijab.

“We, therefore, call on all those remaining Boko Haram terrorists to know that they are following a coward moving about in hijab and disguising as a woman.

“We also request all the remaining Boko Haram members to come out from hiding and lay down their arms and be treated humanely.’’

Regardless, the army is not giving up their efforts to track him down, Usman said, appealing to members of the public, especially the residents of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe to be more vigilant and security conscious, adding that they should be on the lookout for the dreaded terrorist leader and other members of his group, who might disguise as women to escape.
