President Muhammadu Buhari, has been of a whopping five million votes from Kano State in the 2019 presidential election, more than three million from the 2015, figure, when the President scored 1,903,999 votes to beat his closest rival, then President Goodluck Jonathan, who got a paltry 215,799 votes.

Buhari is believed to have won the election on the strength of the Kano vote, is even assured of more than double of that if only he could step out for a repeat contest after his present tenure expires.

The promise of the massive votes came from the Governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Saturday night, while swearing in the 44 local government chairmen and 484 councillors, who won the council election, conducted in the state, last Saturday.

Ganduje, who said the All Progressives Congress (APC), which swept the entire seats, was synonymous with Kano, stressed that the result of the election, was an indication that no other party stood a chance.

Warning the council executives to take their new positions with utmost responsibility, he said that anybody caught fiddling with public funds, would live to regret it, by paying the full price.

He said: “The overall number of votes scored by the APC candidates is more than what President Buhari scored in 2015 general election, that is to say that if eventually he agreed to contest 2019 general election, I assured you, we will give you five million votes.

“We have seen in this election was a clear indication that Kano is APC and ready to contribute to its success any time.”

“Anybody involved in the act of mismanagement of funds, will pay the price. A lot of responsibility has been placed on you. You must carry it out with the people in mind. As for my government, we will ensure that you will be given free hands to operate in your respective council, but whoever sidesteps his bound will pay a price.

“The Kano State House of Assembly has approved the state’s 2018 budget and you must be very careful in handling public funds. We will not hesitate to punish whoever is found wanting in embezzling public funds.”
