University don in serious soup after impregnating female student

Dr. Rowland Igwe, a lecturer at the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has added to the growing list of tertiary institution dons, being axed for having sex with female students, one of the forbidden acts in the Ivory Towers in Nigeria.

In the instant case, the lecturer, who has since been suspended by the institution was said to have actually impregnated student after intimidating her before having his way, according to the authorities of the institution.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele, who confirmed the development in his Twitter handle, said the undergraduate suffered health complications following the pregnancy and that the matter had been referred to the institution’s Senate Committee on Staff Disciplinary Matters for further investigation.

The statement said: “The management of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has placed Dr. Rowland Uchechukwu Igwe of the Department of Sociology on an indefinite suspension on an allegation of serial intimidation, sexual harassment and undue canal knowledge of a female undergraduate which resulted in her impregnation and other complications.

“The matter has been referred to the Council-Senate Committee on staff disciplinary matters for further investigation.”
