Okonjo-Iweala with Ramaphosa

A highly elated former Governor of Anambra State, is presently beside himself with joy, over the appointment of former Managing Director of the World Bank by South Africa to help it rebound its ailing economy.

Obi, Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections, who described it as deserving and highly rewarding said, Okonjo-Iweala, former Minister of Finance and Coordinator of the Economy of Nigeria, was the right choice for the country to turn at the moment it is in trouble.

The former governor, told reporters on Saturday at the Domestic Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos that the country would surely benefit from her experience as one of the best economist in the world and a global citizen, beside being one always diligent in her work with a single-minded desire to succeed at all times.

He added that by the appointment South Africa picked an experienced and committed economic manager, a square peg in a square hole, thus taking a giant and veritable step towards the restoration of its troubled economy.

Obi recalled nostalgically how Okonjo-Iweala’s efforts to save the Nigerian economy for the future came to naught when the Nigerian Governors’ Forum refused her fervent cry, called her names and even went to court to stop her from saving the huge sum in the excess crude account in Nigeria’s Sovereign Wealth Fund for the rainy day and the future of the country’s children.

Hear him: “Okonjo-Iweala is an exceptional personality and first class ambassador of our country Nigeria and one whose commitment to a better society remains outstanding. I can assure you this is a right choice and a giant step towards dealing with the economic problem they are dealing with at the moment.”

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, whose country’s economy is facing recession, had recently appointed the former Nigerian Coordinating Minister for the Economy into his powerful advisory team to turn around the nation’s dwindling economy.
