It was a cold night. It had rained almost all day. But just as the rains were about to give way for some cool breezy weather it appeared a command came from somewhere and this time, there was no let as the heavens truly opened up letting out showers upon showers, in torrents and volumes.

However, it became a matter of different strokes for different folks. While the rains caused some havoc and many bewailed its effect outside, tucked inside the confines of Moist Bar at Oniru Private Beach, was an assemblage of a coterie of persons to whom the cool night’s breeze coming from the beach and accentuated by the rains presented a perfect opportunity to savour a unique moment.

They had actually gathered for the launch of a new drink in town, called the SMA SHOTS. Somehow, the chilliness of the night, became a sort of blessing, as it presented a perfect test for the new entrants into the Nigerian market. As it turned out, there was nothing to leave to chance, as the two brands proved their worth, by not only warming the palate, but kept the body warm for the entire night.

It’s all about flavours, quality and refreshment rolled together, officials of from Spivi, the Scandinavian beverage company, that introduced them emphasised, taking in the reaction of those they had invited to have a feel.

Filled in an almost hypnotic bottle, SMA SHOTS, they said, has been made in a way that takes the consumer, especially the young crowd, to the world of flavours.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Export Manager, Mr. Sebastian Gronskov, explained that every bottle of SMA SHOTS is a promise kept, adding Spivi intends to export SMA SHOTS around the world.

Hear him: “We have been exporting in several countries; Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Japan, Iceland and now Nigeria.  We chose Nigeria as the first African country because it is such a dynamic market and the biggest in Africa.  We wanted to make sure our brand works well in Africa-and Nigeria is an ideal testing ground.

“Our first distributor is–FIRST BOTTLING LIMITED- and our marketing push will be focusing on Lagos to get a good footprint.   Then we roll it out from there.

“We have engaged experts with proven record in this business and this product has all the essential ingredients for success. Consumers can be rest assured of buying a product worth the value of the money spent.”

Tosin Obafemi, the Head of Distribution in Nigeria, also put in some words in confirmation of the quality of the drinks, saying: “SMA SHOTS is premium brand and is creating a unique category in the alcohol sector.  Spivi is the first to introduce a brand like this in Nigeria, and we are looking at getting across all the major states in the next six months.”

Part of the distinctiveness of the drinks, are the bottles, which they explained had been made longer than a normal bottle with a unique colour for easy identification.

“The red bottle is the strawberry flavour and the black bottle is the strong menthol flavour.  SMA SHOTS is lower in alcohol than ordinary spirits and is colourful and tasty.

“SMA SHOTS is Scandinavia’s most popular Shots brand and has enjoyed incredible success since it was first introduced in Denmark. The global roll out is now underway, with China recently added. The Brand Owners of SMA SHOTS are international experts in creating new and unique shot flavours that consumers will recognize as the favorite flavours of each country in which it is sold.”
