All over Nigeria, there is growing anger, confussion and intense bitterness as Nigerians travelling from one point to another are facing more hardship following incresed transport fare resulting from unexpected fuel scarcity and increase in pump price both at most filling stations and road side Retailers otherwise known as Black Marketers.

Whirlwindnews.com reports that the increasing rage over the outcome of the ongoing trend which seems uncontrlable by the preesent adminstration with President Muhammadu Buhari as Petroleum Minister, led some angry youths retailing fuel to unleash mayhem on monitoring task comprising of Police, Soldiers and Civil Defence Officer who as usual went around to apprenhend them.

Members of this armed task force who were after the retailers suddenly ran into their vehicles and speed off when the black Marketers mostly young Men mobilized themselves in front of one NNPC mega filling staion, located around Central Area in Abuja and began to chase them down with stones and iron weapons.

Random checks by Whirlwindnews.com reveals that transport fares in parts of the country has trippled. For instance, Abuja to Lagos which until sometimes late last week stood at N7,000 via regular park demand is now between N15, 000 and N18,000 in most parks visited on Friday and Saturday.

The situation is not different for those flying aboard aircraft. The current flight ticket from Abuja to any part of the country is nothing less than N38,000.

Meanwhile, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nwodo, has stated the current fuel shortage in the country was a deliberate attempt by the current administration to impoverish Igbo people.

He also stated that the policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration do not in any way favour sons and daughters of Igbo land.

Nwodo said the fuel scarcity was to ensure that whatever Igbos living outside brought to Igboland would be expended on fuel.

He called on Ndigbo to never forget to bring back their wealth to the homeland.

He said this in his Christmas message, adding that the period provides good opportunity for Ndigbo to pray more to God to send succor to alleviate their sufferings in the country.

He said, “They know that at this period in the year Ndigbo travel a lot to their homeland, that’s when the government chose to close our airport, that’s when they allow fuel shortage to take place, this is very unfair and insensitive.

“It’s a deliberate policy of impoverishing our people to ensure that whatever wealth our sons and daughters bring home during Christmas is expended on the obvious effect of fuel shortage and none for investment.

“The proceeding events in the country especially as it relates to Ndigbo since this administration came to power underscores the imperatives for our people to think home with their wealth,” Nwodo added‎.
