In the end, the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has run into troubled waters with protests taking over the Eagle Square, Abuja, venue of the event, the latest being the last man standing for the South West's contest for the National Chairman of the party, Prof. Tunde Adeniran.

The former Minister of Education under former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, stormed out of the venue of the convention on Saturday night, as defeat stared him in the face, following a surprise "Unity List" sprung on the party, allegedly by Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, on behalf of PDP governors.

Adeniran, who is from Ekiti State, is said not to enjoy the blessing of his home Governor, Ayo Fayose, with whom he had been at cross purposes, and therefore, had the governor, who incidentally is the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, working against him.

While rejecting the conduct of the election exercise even with the results yet to be announced, Adeniran who denounced the electoral process through his spokesman, Mr Taiwo Akeju, described the process “as fraudulent and unfair,” adding that he was against the use of a unity list, which he claims was used to rig the process.
