For allegedly bewitching his relations and preventing their progress, a primary school head teacher in Imo State, Mr. Cosmas Nwaiwu, has been reported killed by irate youths from Nneoche Umuoma Nzerem in Ehime Mbano Council Area of the State.

Nwaiwu, 57, who was said to have been killed on November 29, 2017, was until his death the Head Teacher of Obolo Primary School, Ehime Mbano.

It was gathered that the late Nwaiwu met with untimely death on the allegation that he diabolically hijacked the destiny of three members of his extended family.

Another story had it that the deceased lost his life as a result of allegation against him by a woman, who preferred anonymity, that he was responsible for the death of her husband.

A close source told our correspondent that the President General of the community, Mr. Nnanna Okonkwo summoned the youths of the area, who quickly mobilised themselves and besieged his house, killed and burnt the said Nwaiwu.

Although Nwaiwu’s wife, Mary, could not react when contacted on phone, a close family source, said that Nwaiwu was killed as result of envy by his close relations, who felt that he was making more progress in life than they were.

“He was not into any diabolical act at all. As a teacher, who was nearing retirement, he managed to build a bungalow of four rooms for his immediate family over the years he was in service.

“But these nephews of his, who neither went to school, learnt a trade nor started a business cooked up the story that he was the one bewitching them.”

When contacted on phone, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, confirmed the incident.

Enwerem, a Superintendent of Police, said: “We have arrested three suspects including Okonkwo in connection with the incident and thorough investigations are in progress.”
