Nigeria will playoff against Sierra Leone in Cape Coast later on Monday in continuation of this year’s WAFU Cup, which has already seen hosts Ghana and Senegal qualify for the group stage of the sub-regional competition.

The encounter is scheduled for 7pm.

Already, the home-based Eagles coached by Salisu Yusuf have landed in Accra, ready for action.

The fixture was originally billed to be played on Sunda but it was shifted to allow Nigeria line up their best players at the end of the domestic league season.

On the opening day of the tournament, home team Ghana pipped Gambia 1-0, while Senegal stopped Liberia 5-4 on penalties for the winners to advance to the mini-league stage.

Also on Monday, Burkina Faso square up against Niger by 4pm Nigerian time, while Guinea and Guinea-Bissau will do battle three hours later.

Mali vs Mauritania will open action before the Nigeria take to the pitch against Sierra Leone.

On Tuesday, Cote d’Ivoire tackle Togo and Benin will be up against Cape Verde.

“The competition has got off to a great start with good football and good attendances,” disclosed former Nigeria international Garba Lawal, who is on the tournament’s Technical Study Group along with the likes of Ghana stars Stephen Baidoo and Augustine Ahinful.
