Few hours after President Muhammadu Buhari flagged off the Change Begins With Me campaign of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), on Thursday, he began to match words with action, by ordering the reduction of the number of aircrafts in the presidential fleet.

The President chose one of the touchy issues, which had, in the eyes of Nigerians either detracted from his austere lifestyle mantra, but seemed to put an outright lie to his credibility as a man of his words – the retention of the large number of presidential jets maintained by his predecessors in office.

Buhari, appears to have finally come to terms with the call by Nigerians that he should keep his words during his campaigns that one of the things he would do on assumption of office was to reduce the fleet, as it was too much for his office.

A Twitter handle, which was said to belong to Presidential spokesperson, Malam Garba Shehu, not only conveyed the Buhari's supposed decision, on Thursday Sept 8, 2016 evening, but alluded that it had to do with the change mantra of the Villa.

He wrote: “There is a govt committee already in place, working to reduce the number of aircraft in the presidential fleet. Some aircraft will be boarded, some others returned to the Air Force for operations. The Change is here.”
