Ex-education Minister, Olaiya drops dead in Owo

Ondo state Governor, Olusegun Mimiko

Olaiya Oni, a former Nigerian minister of education and one-time chairperson of the  Labour Party (LP) in Ondo State, is dead.

Saharareporters repors that Dr Oni died at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), in Owo on Sunday afternoon.

The source added that the body of the deceased who was also a chieftain of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has been deposited at the morgue in the hospital. 

One of his close friends told Saharareporters that the former politician has been sick for the past three months at his Ise Ekiti hometown in Ekiti State.

" He has been bedridden for some months", the source added. 

A family source who also confirmed the news to our correspondent said the family has called for a meeting discuss burial arrangements for Dr. oni

Oni was 72.
