PDP Governorship Hopeful Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi

Smiles were brought on the face of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Enugu state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Thursday as one of aspirants of the party, Dr Sam Onyishi, who sued the  party over the outcome of the governorship primary announced the withdrawal
unconditionally of the matter in court.

Onyishi said he decided to withdraw the matter, in which he was allegedly shot of the primary based on the intervention of eminent citizens of the state as well as to entrench lasting peace in the

He had prayed the court to out rightly cancel the outcome of the December 8,2014 party governorship primary claiming it was inviolation of the electoral guidelines for the conduct of the exercise.
The matter which was brought before Justice Envo Chukwu sitting in Abuja had advanced to judgment stage but the plaintiff, consented to overwhelming pleas from religious and political leaders in the state asking for a withdrawal of the matter in the interest of peace.

In a statement signed and made available to Whirlwindnews in Enugu, Onyishi's Campaign Coordinator, Mr. Chike Ngwu said,"Haven considered several visits and appeals from Enugu state PDP governorship candidate, Ugwuanyi, and the intervention of Senator Jim
Nwobodo and some religious leaders, we have decided to withdraw the court case instituted by Onyishi against PDP and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) unconditionally.

"The campaign organisation will continue to support Onyishi for his unique leadership qualities and service oriented mind.

"The interest of the party is paramount and has prevailed."

Perhaps, the coast will be clearer for Ugwuanyi should he also placate Senator Ayogu Eze, who had appealed the ruling of the federal high court Abuja, which had earlier ruled in favour of Ugwuanyi over the contentious governorship primary in the state.
